The Fox Performance Elite 2.5 Shock Series is a premium suspension upgrade designed for truck and Jeep owners looking to improve off-road performance while maintaining excellent on-road ride characteristics.
Construction
Shock Body
The Performance Elite shocks feature a large 2.5-inch diameter body, which provides increased oil capacity. The body is built from high-strength CNC machined 6061-T6 anodized aluminum. This material improves heat dissipation over standard steel body shocks and is much more corrosion resistant.
Shock Shaft Size
Large 7/8-inch hard chrome-plate steel shafts come standard in all Fox 2.5 Performance Elite Shocks. Most aftermarket truck shocks use a much smaller 5/8-inch shaft. The increased diameter of the Performance Elite Shock shaft lessens the chance of buckling in extreme conditions.
Internals
Fox's long history in motorsport has resulted in race-developed shock internals that perform great in on and off-road conditions. High-flow pistons mixed with vehicle-specific valving give dampening tailored to your truck or Jeep.
Reservoirs
A dual steering stabilizer by Fox consists of two steering stabilizer cylinders that will generally mount across the front end more commonly known as inline. A heavy steel center bracket is where the two cylinders meet. This center bracket mounts around the front axle using a pair of u-bolts. Outer brackets clamp around the tie-rod on both the driver and passenger sides. Once installed these dual stabilizers provide a great deal of damping for your steering. For models with 35-inch diameter tires and above this provides the best solution for eliminating or controlling vibrations and or bump steer.
DSC Adjusters
The DSC (dual speed compression) adjusters are attached to each reservoir. These external adjusters allow you to fine-tune your vehicle's ride based on current road or off-road conditions. This is an extremely valuable feature enabling you to move from a smooth to firm ride by simply turning the low or high speed dials to your desired settings (10 low-speed settings, 12 high-speed settings)
Rebuildable
Like most Fox shocks, these are entirely rebuildable, allowing for maintenance without needing to replace them.
Is the Performance Elite Shock Right for Me?
The Performance Elite 2.5 are excellent shock absorbers, but are only a fit for some drivers. With a price tag of $1500 + per pair, these will only fit some budgets. However, if they are within your budget, you will get an excellent shock absorber that is very durable, rebuildable and performs well in all terrain and conditions. The DSC adjusters are a huge benefit, giving you a vast number of adjustment combinations for smooth, firm, or many in-between ride settings.
